Studying with Jesus

As a student I've found myself loathing studying for hours. It is definitely the biggest trial of my life to just make me sit and mug up the worldly subjects, in a full on attack mode. I didn't know how to carry this cross  for the rest of my student life. I finally found some answers from some of my christian friends and i assure this was the only thing that helped me. For you guys who have no trouble studying ,well you are truly blessed. But for the others read on . . . .

I would say the first major step is to have a real interest in what we are learning. Pray to the Holy Spirit to instill in us the desire and passion to learn and work hard. It is only through the Holy spirit that we really learn. Pray to God everyday , to know what our vocation is and to what profession we are being called.Have confidence, faith and hope that Jesus will reveal our real interests and talents in His own time. Through prayer get closer to your creator and He will speak inside you all the time.

  • Perseverance is key in learning how to use our skills to study. It will take time to get used to sitting down daily for so much time.
St. Thomas Aquinas, patron saint of students
An easy way to study is to offer each subject to a saint and tell them to pray for you while you are doing their subjects. In a subject take a portion of it and study it  with an intention of prayer.
  • For example, if you are studying a science concept that you are finding extremely difficult to learn, take up a prayer intention  like your mothers sickness, or a friends conversion and offer the cross of learning it to God for the said intention. This will really help.
  • The key is not to lose motivation to study this way, which can only be done through daily personal prayer and never miss to pray the Rosary everyday, a mother knows whats best for her child.

A good disciple of Jesus should have a good amount of discipline, and is required for any student. Have a good timetable and stick to it and don't give up yourself to devil's temptations who want to see you destroyed. Fight the battle against laziness and procrastination and be a warrior for your King.Remember "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much"(Luke 16:10). Jesus wants to test us for our faithfulness and persistence towards Him. Love your work and study with full intention and every time you fail keep picking yourself up.

Once a boy prayed to God" oh God you have made every subject easier for me except for one and it is making me sad. God then gave him a conviction. 'If I made every subject easier for you , you would become lazy and a slacker. Therefor to make you more alert and hardworking I have given you a gift .....  "

The road to success is not straight. There is a curb called Failure, a loop called Confusion; speed bumps called Friends; red lights called Enemies;caution lights called Family. You will have flats called jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination; an engine called Perseverance; insurance called Faith, and a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success!!

When you enter the exam hall :
  1. Take refuge in Christ while entering your exam hall with a smile
  2. Pray for a minute and become peaceful
  3. Upon receiving the question paper pray with gratitude and praise for a minute, "Holy Spirit come fill me up, help me, take away my fear, give me courage, give me victory"
  4. Without rushing write answers to all questions peacefully.
  5. Never cheat on your exams nor show your answers to others. When you copy you are stealing someone else's effort and when you show your answers you are being selfish, just wanting  them to like you without being concerned about their future.
  6. After submitting your paper say thanks to Jesus. Even if the exam was poorly written," know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who  have been  called according to His purpose."(Romans 8:28)
